I was recently welcome at the MHUC Research Institute to officialize my research collaboration with the Montreal General Hospital. My main projects here focus on the group therapies offered at the clinic MUSIC | McGill University Sexual Identity Centre. These therapies support LGBTQ+ individuals and their families in their journeys to fully express their gender and sexual identity and counter the emotional distress resulting from societal underrepresentation. The methods I am using include quantitative and qualitative language analysis.

How often do we actually look each other in the eyes during a conversation? Not that often! In this new study, we show that we are rather shy and prefer looking away from the other person. When we look at the other person, we prefer to look at their mouth, perhaps because it feels less invasive? Check also this short highlight summarizing the results of this research!

I had my first podcast interview with Morgan Sweeney, an enthusiastic and talented student at McGill pursuing the dream of becoming a science journalist. She created the inspiring podcast Magic of the Mind. In part 1 of each episode, a different fantasy story happens to Eve, a sixteen-year-old scribe and traveler. Written into the plot of each episode is a different topic in cognitive science that is explored in detail in part 2. Morgan invited me to join her for Episode 2 to discuss some interesting questions on attention and perception - it was a wonderful experience! The podcast is available on Apple or Spotify.

I am now featured in the McGill spotlight campaign - a monthly series where McGill Psychology Department profiles graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to tell who they are inside and out of the lab. In my case, this narrative takes the form of an interview - the writer and interviewer behind the curtain is Effie Pereira, my friend and colleague. Thanks, Effie, for putting this together!
